There will be no summer reading book this year. Instead, that book will be given out to students in the fall at the start of school.
There is however, still the summer reading challenge. These sheets will go home today. Students can record books (of their choice) they read on the sheet, and if it's filled out by the fall (and brought back to their homeroom teacher), they will be included in a popsicle party in September!
Here is the coonley library website (with a link to summer reading sheets in case you need to print another one): coonleylibrary.weebly.com/summer-reading-information.html
And here are some summer reading lists in case you need ideas!
Happy Summer and Happy Reading!
The students have been working super hard on their motorized toys and are almost ready to show them off! Please join us for an engineering fair in the MPR on Thursday June 13th from 8:45-9:15. All the fourth grade students will be there with their working toy and a presentation showing you how it all happened from start to finish!
As you have probably heard, Ms. Michel has started her maternity leave. She has asked me to pass along the following message:
Good Morning! As you might know, I have started my maternity leave sooner than anticipated. Leaving this class was incredibly difficult this year and I already miss each child, even though it has only been two days. It has been an absolute pleasure teaching your children this year. Each child is so curious, willing to learn, and most importantly, wanting to be the best version of themselves. Thank you parents for being so supportive of your child and myself over the course of the school year. What we were able to accomplish together is truly amazing.
I am planning to visit with Jack near the end of the school year, as I promised the students. I will also send a picture of him to you all once he is born. It warmed my heart every time that they would ask how he was doing or give me parenting advice. (No candy, make a padded room, and to make sure I say "I love you" every day). Each child was so supportive of me during the school year, whether just checking in, making sure that nothing was on the floor that I could slip on, or letting me know that they were walking really slow so I could keep up.
Thank you again for an amazing year,
Attached is an extra copy of the order form for the upcoming author visit.
In advance of all the neighborhood girls getting mixed up in different classes in 5th grade, the counselor Ms. Dubose is putting together a girls lunch group of a couple people from each class so girls have a chance to make some new friends and connections! She will choose 6-8 girls each week, and it will be a fun way to do something new for lunch and to get to know some different people!
If you're interested, please sign up using the link below.
The school counselor Ms. Dubose is putting together a group of 4th graders to be peer leaders. These students would go and speak to the 3rd graders before the end of the year to talk about what it's like in 4th grade! They'd give some advice of things they wish they knew before they started 4th grade, and answer any questions the 3rd graders have. If you are interested in being a peer leader, fill out the application linked below and send it in no later than May 20th.
We will be changing the homework assignments for math during this last quarter. There will be a two page (1 sheet double sided) assignment that has students practice the skills we are learning each week. This week students will be multiplying fractions by a whole number. In addition, we will beginning to review the material covered this year. There will be small quizzes and students will be assigned work to review skills they have not fully mastered.

Before spring break starts, 303 will have their fraction unit test, and fraction project due. Both of these things MUST be completed before break begins on the 12th, so if your family is leaving early and your child will be absent part of next week, please let me know so we can make arrangements together to have both of these things completed.
